Moreover, they can help you with developing some really creative designs, and they are all available for free. ![]() Here, we will give you a list of handy SketchUp plugins that will get things done better and faster. Insert your data, and the plugins will do their magic in a blink of an eye. Doing basic repetitive tasks like extruding (push/pull) multiple surfaces or creating offsets and multiple copies will be your job no more. Once you have grasped how they work, you will realize how much time they could save you. Now, using such plugins is essential for faster and better results. These plugins are created by users who noticed the shortcomings of the default tools on Sketchup and decided to solve them. That is when SketchUp plugins or extensions come into the picture. So, you might consider these simple tips to easily improve your SketchUp skills. However, as work starts to get a bit more complicated, these simple tools might become a hindrance. Its tools and interface are simple and easy to deal with for beginners. There are other dedicated 3D modelling tools which are better than SketchUp so you’re better off testing it first.SketchUp is one of the easiest, fastest, and most popular 3D modeling software. If you’re planning to use SketchUp for 3D modelling however, you may be better off using the free versions first to learn the ropes. There are other limitations to SketchUp Free and the best advice we can give is, if you’re a professional architect, go straight for the Pro version as you’re going to need the added powerful touches. These are mainly used for terrain modelling to realistically simulate the environment for house designs. SketchUp Pro also has far more sand box tools than SketchUp Free. The quality of exported files from SketchUp Free is also not as good as from SketchUp Pro. The free version of SketchUp only allows you to export in PNG and STL but for professional needs, you’ll need to upgrade to either SketchUp Go for $119 or SketchUp Pro for $199 which both support exporting in DWG and DXF. The big drawback of SketchUp Free vs SketchUp Pro are the lack of export formats.Įspecially if you need to export your designs for professional presentations, you’ll definitely need SketchUp Pro. SketchUp is currently also the only CAD tool that allows Mac users to use Enscape on Mac via the Enscape SketchUp Extensions. The SketchUp Extension Warehouse features everything from 3D rendering tools to vegetation extensions and texture packs. SketchUp ExtensionsĪnother amazing feature of SketchUp is the number of extensions that are available for it. If it’s home design, then Live Home 3D is a better option. If you want to just create floor plans, then SmartDraw is much easier to use. The patented “push and pull” feature in SketchUp Free is impressive and allows you to drag and manipulate designs however you want.Īlthough SketchUp Free is powerful, it’s certainly takes time to get results and there are far easier home design software that are much easier to use have the steep learning curve. You can move the camera around your 3D design at any time and there are predefined camera angles and you can choose how long you want transitions between angles to be. There’s everything from houses to skyscrapers and a huge range of objects to choose from. There are no templates as such but you can download examples of other people’s 3D models in 3dwarehouse which you can modify yourself. On the right are a range of panels including the Instructor which provides tips on how to manipulate your designs and how to find certain tools and functions. On the left are the navigational and drawing tools which is what you use the most. The toolbars appear discreetly on the left and right hand side of the screen. The first thing you notice about SketchUp Free is the interface is extremely simple. When you sign-up for SketchUp, you’ll initially get a free 30 day trial of the Pro version and then it will revert to the free version if you choose not to upgrade. However, SketchUp Make is no longer being developed and won’t be supported in future versions of macOS so our advice is to use the browser based SketchUp Free. There are two free versions of SketchUp: SketchUp Free which works in any browser and SketchUp Make which you can download on your desktop. SketchUp Pro costs $299 per year and yet the free version is almost exactly the same as the Pro apart from it has less import and export options. There are two versions of SketchUp: Free and Pro. ![]() The company also provides other high value rewards that flex with your life stage and career progression from recruitment through retirement. So what if part of the secret sauce behind feeds serves the aims of the cook rather than the customer? People and corporations in positions of wealth and power aren’t the only ones who expend energy to affect the outcome of an election. None promises neutrality, whatever that might mean, although some - including Google and Bing - clearly distinguish between results driven by the companies’ own formulas versus those displayed as sponsored advertising. Whether for search results, top tweets, or Facebook updates, each curating service uses a proprietary recipe to draw from boundless ingredients to prepare our feeds, and each is in a position to gerrymander its users, distinguishing between those it thinks will be supportive of its goals and those who will not. It is possible on any service that personalizes what it presents, particularly when there is an abundance of items to offer up and only a few that can be shown at a time. This hypothetical is an example of digital gerrymandering: the selective presentation of information by an intermediary to meet its agenda rather than to serve its users. If it did, should we have a problem with that? If we do, should the law somehow constrain this kind of behavior? Given the research showing that feeds can directly impact voting behavior by hundreds of thousands of votes nationwide, it’s plausible that selective morsels in news feeds could alter the outcome of our hypothetical election. 6 So our hypothetical Zuck simply chooses not to spice the feeds of those unsympathetic to his views with a voter encouragement message. ![]() He knows that Facebook “likes” and other behaviors can easily predict political views and party affiliation - even beyond those many users who already proudly advertise those affiliations directly. He arranges for the same encouragement to vote to appear within the news feeds of tens of millions of active daily users 5 - but unlike 2010’s experiment, he creates a very special group that won’t receive the message. Suppose Mark Zuckerberg personally favors whichever candidate you don’t like, and whichever answer you think is wrong to the referendum question. With the results in mind, consider a hypothetical hotly contested future election - maybe one that includes a close referendum, too. The study’s results are fascinating, and credit is due to Facebook for making it possible. 4 And as they point out, President Bush took Florida and thus clinched victory in the 2000 election by 537 votes - fewer than 0.01% of the votes cast in that state. The researchers concluded that their single message on Facebook, strategically delivered, increased turnout directly by 60,000 voters, and thanks to the ripple effect, ultimately caused an additional 340,000 votes to be cast amidst the 82 million Americans who voted that day. But with large numbers, that can mean a lot of people. To be sure, the impact is a modest increase: less than one-half of one percent. And their decisions to vote appeared to ripple to the behavior of their close Facebook friends, even if those friends hadn’t gotten Facebook’s original message. Users who were prompted with news of their friends’ voting turned out to be 0.39% more likely to vote than their undisturbed peers. That way they could see if, on average, someone in the group receiving the voting prompt was more likely to mark a ballot than someone with an untouched news feed. ![]() Then, in an awesome feat of data-crunching, the researchers cross-referenced everyone’s name with the day’s actual voting records from precincts across the country. ![]() Many of those millions of Facebook users were shown a graphic within their news feeds with a link to find their polling place, a button to click to say that they’d voted, and the profile pictures of up to six of their friends who had indicated they’d already voted. congressional mid-term elections when they wouldn’t otherwise have gone to the polls? 3 2 On November 2nd, sixty million of those visitors were subject to an ambitious experiment: could Facebook get them to cast a vote in that day’s U.S. In late 2010, Facebook enjoyed about one hundred million visitors a day from North America. But what happens should the interests of the firms and their customers diverge?Ĭonsider a hypothetical involving a phenomenon I call “digital gerrymandering,” grounded in a real, and fascinating, empirical study facilitated through Facebook. 1 The work of these firms to defend open expression has dovetailed with their function of pairing information producers and consumers. Possibly the most popular “match 3” game of all time is PopCap Games’s Bejeweled, where players have to match up three identical pieces so that they can be eliminated to make space for further pieces. Puzzle games can be divided into several basic categories: the “ match 3” games, the action puzzle games, the reveal the picture games, the hidden object games, virtual versions of real life game show, and then miscellaneous puzzle games which blend genres or are difficult to categorize. Basic skills that are essential for solving puzzle games include pattern recognition, logic, word completion and sequence solving.
